Thousands expected at Thursday's Omaha vigil for Lincoln lesbian, 'Rainbow Jane,' who said she was cut by 3 masked men; 8:30 pm at Memorial Park

Update: Vigil photos here. Video here.

The 33-year-old Lincoln gay woman, who does not wish to be publicly identified though she is out to friends, is now living in a Lincoln shelter. She told police three male masked intruders beat her and carved three epithets on her, then bound her and set fire to her rented apartment near 22nd & E in Lincoln. The fire didn't "take" and and caused about $200 worth of damage. Antigay epithets were found spray-painted on an inside basement wall.
Police spokeswoman Officer Katie Wood has told The Advocate that the department is treating the attack as a hate crime and that Lincoln police investigators met Tuesday with the FBI.
The story has been covered by the Lincoln Journal-Star, Omaha World-Herald, both Lincoln commercial TV stations and by at least four Omaha TV stations. It has also been picked up by the New York Daily News, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and ABC (below) after posts in Towleroad and JoeMyGod:
